Although a five-person jury awarded Depp $15 million (P820.7 million) in damages, Heard’s attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, claims that the actress lacks the funds to cover these costs.
Heard reportedly earned $10 million from her work on films and sponsorships between 2013 and 2019; even if she had not spent a penny of that money, the cost of the damages would have forced her into bankruptcy.
Heard might be able to make money by selling a gift Elon Musk, the creator of Tesla and Space X, gave her. The two had a brief romance in 2017, right after Heard and Depp’s breakup.
